I had met Giulio on an earlier occasion in Rome for photography tours. Having known that he recently started providing tours in Tuscany too, and considering that taking pictures in Tuscany was always high on my list, this autumn, I decided to join him for a tailored made photography journey in the region. Giulio was like always friendly, entertaining, great photographer and an excellent driver too. The tour took us to several towns that were all well researched by Giulio, and which turned out to be a unique photography opportunity for us. We explored woods, churches, Tuscany hills, streets, local restaurants and used every opportunity to take pictures despite the slightly cold autumn weather. Giulio chose properties to stay that were one of their kind and at most affordable prices. We also discovered some great Italian food on the tour. I highly recommend the Tuscany photography tour with Giulio and both his companies Rome Photo Fun Tours and Italy Photo Fun Tours. company.

Last year, after having taken a couple of half day photo tours in Rome with Rome Photo Fun Tours, led by Giulio D’Ercole, I decided to participate also in Giulio's multi-day photo tour in Tuscany. This multi-day photo workshop covered some amazing off the map medieval hilltop “Borghi” in an area called Maremma as well as the iconic Renaissance cities and world-famous landscapes of Val d’Orcia. From the very beginning, I was deeply impressed by Giulio’s professionalism in terms of photography both at technical level but also in terms of composition and how to search and create compelling, original, and yet personal shots. Though, that was not the only thing that convinced me I made the right thing in choosing him for the photo tour in Tuscany, the most famous and photographed region of Italy. In fact, I can confidently say that Giulio stands out from the crowd of other photographers providing the same service, because of his total dedication, contagious passion, time availability, and his ability to accompany and guide you throughout the workshop, always keen in caring and providing suggestions and yet never invasive of your own creative space. One more thing: Giulio is a very friendly and well-traveled person, with a rich professional and human background, that makes him a great human being to engage with I all sorts of conversations and topics. Needless to say, that through this photography workshop I did not only gathered lots of memorable photos, but I also gained a good friend. I am looking forward to book his other workshops in Umbria, and Apulia. I strongly recommend him, so, if you are looking for a unforgettable photography experiences in Italy do not miss his totally cost-efficient offers… it’s money very well spent.

The tour started from Rome (where in the previous years I took other Giulio’s short tours) and we drove to Maremma, a hidden gem in the south of Tuscany. Giulio organized the itinerary so that in the following 7 days, we could explore first the countryside and ancient villages in Maremma, and then all the most iconic and breathtaking locations in Val d’Orcia. In the second half of the trip, we drove every day to the different unforgettable places of Crete Senesi. By the end of this one-week tour, I owned a memorable photography portfolio of Tuscany with amazing shots of landscapes, street-life, and villages both at night, sunrise, and daytime. Just a perfect tour. Besides the actual photoshoots, Giulio organized also a couple of afternoons to go through the photos taken, discuss and post-produce them using Lightroom. Those sessions helped me a lot to understand composition, color harmony, and editing in general. If I was asked what makes Giulio’s tours so special, and why I should highly recommend, I would answer that is not just one thing, but a great number of elements that work perfectly together: professionality, great timing for the photo shoots sessions, time availability, selection of locations, and last but definitely not least his very positive and open personality. In fact, Giulio always tries his best to make you feel at ease during the photo shoots through dedicated and caring assistance, it does not matter if you are a beginner, an amateur or a professional. I believe all these factors are the definitive and unquestionable Giulio’s workshops added value, especially for a solo traveler like me, but I am sure they are also valid for people booking Giulio’s tours for small groups. Thank you so much, Giulio, for the wonderful time and all the work you did.
